Falling merchandise is one of the common hazards employees can face. This is often the case when they’re working in a stock room, particularly if there are tall shelves or items that aren’t neatly stored.

Customers can sometimes get violent, which is typically more common when there are seasonal sales occurring. Stampedes and unruly customers can harm people who are trying to get their job duties done.

Repetitive motion injuries are another common risk for retail workers. This is particularly common for cashiers because of the repetitive wrist motion that occurs when ringing up items.
Falls, trips and slips
Falls are also possible for retail workers, especially if there is merchandise strewn across the floors. It’s best to keep items off the floor and to clean up spills as soon as possible. In some cases, the issue is power cords that are running across the floor, so it’s critical that those are properly secured.
